That last week of March was colder than a stripper’s stare with a tip-less rack in a busy club! Are you ready for spring yet? We are! Despite the half an hour of drinking you’ll get screwed out of when daylight savings time hits, everything else will be quite grand. A warmer and slightly less soggy Pornland will soon be upon us!
March brings a fresh list of industry things to do, and we’ll start with DJ Dick Hennessy’s Pirates of the Caribooty. After a two-year lacuna in the Caribooty saga, it’s back in all its glory, and it’s now in its 8th year! It all begins on Friday, March 4, at X Exotic Lounge. Social Suicide, one of our favorite new monthly industry events, will go down on Tuesday, March 8. We’ve said it before, and we’ll repeat it—if you still haven’t checked out Social Suicide, you are seriously asleep. See what you’ve been missing by visiting their IG (@socialsuicidepdx), complete with video and photo coverage of the past events.
It wouldn’t be March without mentioning St. Patrick’s Day parties, right? We have two such shamrocked-out shindigs for you, so make sure to pace yourself! Guilty Pleasures and Stars Cabaret in Salem both want you to wear green, and you’ll not only save green, but also get a free gift! Check out both of their ads for details!
We recommend you not blow your entire load at the aforementioned St. Paddy’s parties because it’s also The Lounge’s very first anniversary party. That’s right, folks, one of PDX’s best new clubs is turning one, and given the pandemic shit show we’ve endured over the last few years, opening a strip club amidst all the uncertainty and chaos and doing it successfully is fucking amazing. We congratulate the owners, as well as Miranda...one of the hardest-working signoras in our industry!
Rounding off March’s industry events is another unique P-town sound; El Gordo will be at Dante’s on March 20, followed by Sinferno Cabaret. Pro tip: don’t miss this night!
That’s right... Polerotica starts on April 2 at Cheetahs XXX Cabaret in Salem and runs through the end of May, and we have all the essential dates listed for you on page 14! Remember, you’re not a true industry aficionado unless you have perfect attendance, so get those dates recorded!
Many of you are aware of Miss Exotic being the longest-running industry event, but did you know Polerotica is now in its 11th year? After applying some pandemic mathematics, we will be medaling our tenth pole champion this year! With that, let’s take a look at the very first Polerotica Champion in 2011: Trinity from the now-defunct Riverside Sports Bar & Grill in Umatilla, Oregon. Trinity would go on to win Polerotica two more times, sharing one of those first-place finishes with Chaos from the also now-defunct Safari Showclub in 2013.
